Through It All
Beast came creeping in the night
Broke your spirit, drained your fight
Stole your movements, fogged your mind
Cruel disease... so unkind
Once statuesque, with quick, sharp brain
Now immobile, racked with pain
Shattered dreams and broken heart
MS ripped your world apart
Researched for years, yet still no cure
Full of hope, but never sure
Pray for miracles every day
But optimism ebbs away
As if, in vain, we search for gold
Resignation takes a hold
As more we see this foe progress
Spreading anguish and distress
Yet during this, a love so strong
Has held you up and spurred you on
Remained beside you through it all
To pick you up each time you fall
Coexistent all these years
Shared your laughter and your tears
Despite what life has thrown at you
This radiant love has shone... right through
