Watch out, there's a sting about!

Wasps

Wasps feed on the largesse of the larder,
Induced by runny juices of jams and jellies,
Now autumn is coming, they find it harder
To fill their rugby-shirted, hairy bellies.
Guided by smells unknown to man
They land on oozing jar, bag and can,
Probing for the elixir of insect life,
Sucking the ends of spoon and knife,
Getting drunk on saccharine sap,
Giddy from the wine on tap,
Round and round the walled world spins,
Red alien eyes reflected in distorting tins,
Primeval senses are quickly dimmed,
Flexed wings are tamely trimmed,
Antennae droop from the sugary drips,
Legs begin to go at their very tips;
Anchored by tacky temptation,
The hard drinkers of the wasp nation
Do not feel a thing, do not care a jot
When the human bouncers come in to swat!

LOVE IT!! Oh my goodness, you have these pests down perfectly. I had so many encounters with them throughout my childhood and I know you've told their story well.
