When Darkness Falls

Fiery winds tearing through the night.
Hurry, scurry, must take guarded flight.
Munching, crunching, sounds of terror.
Slip and fall, you will be gone forever.
Running, spinning through the dark.
Panic clutching thy fast beating heart.
Demons of the night can not be real.
It will not change what one does feel.
Eyes flutter in the safe morning's light.
Savage darkness retreats from sight.

Oh, my goodness, I've woken from dreams like that! I agree with One Trick Pony regarding the term "Savage Darkness." After reading, this I was literally out of breath!!

"Savage darkness" invariably brings out such words as you've written, and which you've written very well.
