You are not alone

~ L. ~

Stormy Weather(sonnet)

Maddening are intrusive thoughts so sad,
Negativity, like a monkey, is on my back riding,
My(over)reaction's to things comes out mad,
Surrounded by friends, but when alone crying.

Acting normal in public, privately coming undone,
Permanently tired from pretending to fine,
Depression, Anxiety, married as one,
Working together to rob the sunshine.

"You can't make a rainbow without a little rain",
Well meant advice stings, like a poison dart,
Wondering why it's YOU chosen to carry all this pain?
It's the mind that's broken, not the body or heart.

Do not worry, my friend, we'll fight this battle together,
ALWAYS, I'll be here, no matter how stormy the weather.

grizzedram
I had a friend with mental illness, and it was a long struggle to continue to be supportive when it felt like they were gone but not dead, though to steal your metaphor it also had moments where the sun broke through the storm clouds and things were almost normal again.

This is quite good. I'd ditch the "all" in the eleventh line.
