My own version of something author Katherine Mansfield wrote once which began "the mind I love..." and then described a garden.

The mind I love

The mind I love
must have wild places.
A cliff where the sky meets the earth
and you can hear music on the wind.
A forbidden forest where
only the courageous walk.
And a chuckling river
with mysteriously deep pools.
The mind I love
must light its own sky with stars
so that I may recognise it by the fire
that burns in its darkness.

What a beautiful metaphor. And a fine reminder to those of us who like to have control to love the strangeness and freedom of the loved one.
