This is a response to to the editorial teams ekphrastic poetry challenge.

Base Material (challenge)

The yellow log
glows in the deep, dark forest
like it has been stripped of its skin
bark scavenged in advance of the woodcutter

My insides bare on the forest floor
I am log,
no longer tree.
I'm ready to be sculpted
on the giants knee

What shapes what
mystery do you imagine is
contained
beneath the chisel and
your knife?
