Three love poems
Love Poem 1Cats return home with befriended mice,
Milkmen deliver full-fat babies,
Motorways offer their hard shoulders
To cry on,
Shadow boxers hang up their shadows,
The arms race is won by the hands of friendship,
People are crying with joy,
There is a strong rumour of peace.
Love Poem 2
Oh I forgot to mention,
My daughter bought me
Some modern toiletries
To refresh parts of my body
That Time had neglected;
The ex-coal miner's face
Of hewn lines,
The ex-civil servant's white
Parchment hands,
The ex-footballer's arthritic
Feet of penalty spots,
All deserving a lift,
So now I'm rubbing it
Like Wiggins,
Smearing it
Like Farrow,
And spraying it
Like Beckham.
I still look and feel the same,
But I don't half smell nice.
Love Poem 3
Five syllables are
Not enough to shout out loud
My deep love for you
