at the park
across the way beyond the diamond
i see a young woman
sitting on a yellow and white striped beach towel
which she has spread on the grass it looks like
she is sketching
i watch the kids play baseball i like the sounds of the game
i like the dynamics of the park i come here often
an older gentleman a regular stops
to chat with the young woman before continuing his walk
i watch the kids for another inning or two
the young woman
has put down her sketchbook she is lying on her back
her hands are folded beneath her head
the sky is blue and cloudless
