This is the earliest of three interconnected sonnets. The latter two already are on poetbay; this is the first publication of this one.

1. Music

Staccato are her lively laughs, and words
Of quick assent when our views harmonize
As when we call ourselves a pair of nerds,
Or fight the penchant to dichotomize.

Legato is her case's measured flow
When it so happens we have disagreed;
My counter points create a to and fro,
One common work--a rare duet indeed!

But what is that I hear across the room?
Her lilting laughter and bright repartee
With someone else. And I want to assume
Its purpose is to pique my jealousy;

And yet, I fear--it sounds so genuine—
She likes his company no less than mine.

Scharlie Meeuws
cleverly written as always, Rob. And nicely dealt with jealousy...
