this is for you
Her necklace is of summer peach stones
There are invisible stones of summer peaches
tied around her neck
for luck
but she does not know this
Born with open hands
she came unfolded from the womb
said to be a sign of a generous nature
but they never told her
As a toddler she communicated with birds
whistling eelgrass between her thumbs
she made black birds grow white feathers
but doesn`t remember that
Now a grown woman with tears down her face
when discouraged and when loved
she makes it rain on the other side of the planet
still unaware of her own magic
I wrote her this poem to let her know
