Not autobiographical, but a contemplation on the unvarnished reality of "now"

Night Prayer

Lord Jesus I pray for peace
Night has gathered its dark
Moving in quiet sloth
To cover stars and moon
Distant cities cast a cloud glow
Cold dead without care or love.

Lord Jesus I pray for peace
The day has once more
Yielded the field to chaos
In another endless game
Mercy called for yet
Once more ridiculed

Lord Jesus I pray for peace
My life in tatters
My soul in shreds
I pray for wholeness
Among these carbon shards
Of broken diamonds

Amen. This world is such a mess anymore with
all the crazy killings & such going on. We need
the Lord, that's for sure.

This poem tells the truth openly
Poet has expressed his grievances
Nowhere he has talked about joy
That itself makes this a real beauty
I feel everyone suffers in some way
Only a poet could tell it openly
This gives him solace denied to others
I pat the poet for his genuine ideas
May God bless him with true peace
And give that to us also with love.

So many prayers are needed at these times of so many uncertainties.

A good prayer, certainly. Appealing to Lord Jesus, though, leaves so many out. There might be a better chance for peace if one prayer served all.
