Fragment

Sifting my fingers through these broken pieces of glass
I feel the nipping sting of their edges
Faces, words and emotions reflected in those tiny fragments

Fear anger and hate
this hopelessness I shut myself away from
Log off
not in apathy, but so I can smile
can warm and soothe

Yet
it reflects in your sparkling eyes
when your smile drops
at the edge of your voice
when your warmth ebbs away

In the vacant, vapid gaze
In the sharp, exhausted smiles
on every face I see

The deception is lost
I see

We are all a shattered humanity
