I can't.

I could delete all the poetry that reminded me of you,
I could sleep until the afternoon and remind myself we're through,
I could cry myself to sleep or stay awake all night,
I could tell myself to calm down and walk in brighter light,
But none of that would erase the way I feel, it's true,
It's hard to try and move on and forget about me and you.

Forgetting cannot be willed. It will eventually get pushed back further into the heart as new experiences fill our minds. There is no shortcut. I have love poems I cannot read still, even as the years pass. But if I don't read them I can keep those feelings at bay. Only time helps.

SO GOOD, once again to be reading a work of yours, Melissa.
When we write poetry, we write of our life's. Those we have fulling in and out of love. We poets write of the good and the not so good, the yes the bad times. We never see life as being indifferent, for writers make a difference. We write of life as life is.

There are pages in my own diaries and in my poetry history I never click to. Poems that are incredibly old but still break me to read.
You're expressing what I think many of us have felt.
