upon ourselves

in her eyes i saw

what

she was offering   it

was look away   or

succumb

now   i feel my ache   i

imagine hers    why

look

away   my history

dictates   past will not

be

my present   nor hers    it

may be our lot to

ache   past being precedent

I am rather intrigued by the form of the poem.

I like the way it flows. It is amazing how much a glance can portray.

This sounds like one of those impossible situations in which we often become involved and refuse to accept.
" ... my history
dictates past will not
be
my present nor hers it
may be our lot to

ache past being precedent"

The hesitant style suits the poem.
