Hurricane

Grief eats you up from the inside,
Spreading out like termites - it swallows
Your thoughts and pushes emotions out.
I can not breath - numb and disturbed.
Left with nothing but questions, walking
In circles, looking for some sign of you.

There's nothing left, no clothes, no walls -
A tube of you, your smile, your presence.
While our love was strong and phenomenal,
Failing you was unacceptable.
The world stopped turning and you followed.
Simple, quiet, strong - no turning back.

No words, no sounds - only you in the dark.
Was it fate, your past, your present?
Please forgive for the phone calls not made,
For the visits that didn't take place.
You - are endless energy, a swirling storm,
forever living - like a hurricane within me.

Beautifully expressed. I can add little to what is said.

I've lived though hurricanes, they're vicious and killing but also exhilarating and addictive in a strange way. You've written of grief in that context. Well done!
