The Quest Returns

When I was young I dreamt of love's
Quest it's challenge and battles won
But life reset my noble thoughts
With base and luddite realities

So it went through my middle year's
Unknowing of the corrupting change
Life became a undreamt chasing game
Acquisitions were the coins of trade

But in my fragmented denouement
I found myself in dreams once more
In shock at where I found my id
I scrambled back to find the past

It sat there waiting my return
With a knowing wink and smiling nod
We once again strode the hallowed halls
Of love's quest path's taken and battles won

I prefer this to the other rhyming pieces of yours.
Though I very much like this "Acquisitions were the coins of trade", it breaks an otherwise smooth flow.
I second with the overall theme of your poem.
As Justin Vernon sings in "Wisconsin", "love is love's return".
