Cleaning Spectacles

My glasses are dirty once again
Dust and grime cause a halo
Which enfuses objects with a
Neogothic stained glass effect

My vision then becomes otherworldly
And therefore in resonance
So do my thoughts
As edges blur so do concepts

I see and think in soft edged fashion
Hard crisp lines of didactic decision
Now elude my understanding
"What if" replaces the absolute

Tolerance becomes central
Displacing dogma and finality
Ideas that were solidly developed
Into personal bedrock days earlier
Now resolve into questioning

I reach for the cleaning cloth
And pause
Reflecting
To what end

I love the last two verses. The whole thing actually. When I hit the bed late at night to read my glasses contain all of the days pollutants and I marvel at getting through the day with them. Strange that I only notice it then. I enjoyed this!

I enjoy this version of seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. That the fuzzy world you see leads to tolerance and new perspective makes sense‚ for those willing to "see" it that way, as you do. I find the blurred edges soothing as well.
