summer solstice, morning

determined

we walked arm in arm   sharing our umbrella

we walked to the studio   angela and cindy were there

i sat by while the three of you sang   you sang beautifully

i thought you were singing for me   you sang

you can't stand up alone   you sang   the book of love

you sang   if i needed you   the fact

that i cried means nothing   i cry at beer commercials

and school plays   then you asked me

to sing with you   knowing i cannot sing well

to sing with the three of you sent

chills up my spine   thank you for that   the rain

had stopped   we walked together

to school   we kissed goodbye   i walked

on alone   singing
