It is St Petur and Pavel day by unknow autor traslated by Ann Wood

Today we honor the memory of the holy apostles Peter and Paul. Petrodden. The two apostles, who were zealous propagators of Christianity, suffered many sufferings and persecutions, and were called "firstborn pilgrims and ecumenical teachers."

Peter, a poor fisherman from Bethsaida near the Galilee, is one of Christ's first disciples and one of his devoted followers. Paul, born in Tarsus, Cilicia, initially professes the Jewish religion and is among the persecutors of Christians. On the way to Damascus he is blinded by the vision of the Lord. They take him back to the city where, after three days, he is miraculously healed. From a fierce adversary he becomes the most zealous distributor of Christ's teaching. In 67, along with his companion Peter, they were crucified by Emperor Nero in Rome.

The Petrovden folk calendar is preceded by the Petrov Zagovets, which start with the first week after Pentecost. On that day, the post was finished and a young Petrov chicken was being prepared. The holiday coincides with the harvesting time and it works - usually during the first half of the day.

In the ideas of the Bulgarian people, the two apostles are perceived as brothers, of whom Peter is the younger. Somewhere they are also considered twins. In St. Peter's iconography he portrays himself as an old man in white robes who holds the keys to the parish gates and determines which soul is righteous and who is not. In some parts of Petrovden, summaries are made. Ritual breads are kneaded and early apples are fed - petals.
