Weather Or Not

Thunder rolls in the northeast
No winds but the scent of rain
Pervades the calm on the porch
Sun strikes a drooping ancient pine
Standing against a slate grey
Eastern sky as evening competes
With afternoon for first billing
On a sultry summer Sunday

The poem is good but the title is hilarious.

I like this. Lines four through seven strike me as especially sharp, and with the wry wit of the evening and afternoon "compet[ing] ...for first billing." A joy!
