tea

we come at this roundabout   but know

when we arrive

~

sometimes we are quiet for so long

that it no longer seems quiet

because i have read the poems of han shan so many times

and have been reading the words only moments ago

i know the words

and do not know the words

i meditate   eyes closed   emptying my mind of thoughts

which fills my mind with thoughts

i stand up   a little woozy   to make tea

it is dusky

i want to shake the cobwebs from my head

i want to go for a run   but don't

i return your sidelong glance with my own

i can afford it   i have many to give

I just love the "up and down" of this poem. I recognise those feelings.

Here's to many a sidelong glances!
The roundabout can sometimes resemble a carousel or even a caterpillar at the theme park, of knowing and not knowing in turn. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey of this piece.
