Did I do a good job today?
It's 7 in the morning as I stretched my arms above my head
Sat and pondered is there something that he read?
Last night while he was tucked in bed
All safe and snug
He lay there with his snotty nose and his head in a book.
Did I do a good job today son?
Will you remember what we both went through
Will you still be the rock for me when you are 22?
I sit there with my morning coffee all strong and black
And then reminisced of how you smiled at me when you were a bab.
Did I do a good job today even though you said you hated me
Did you like the breakfast I made for you just to keep you healthy
Do you enjoy the time we spend cuddling under the blanket watching movies
Did I do a good job today? I ask myself daily
Yes mommy, you are so wonderful to me
