han shan is a name given to a chinese writer of poems    who may or may not have been one writer   may have been many writers   may not have existed at all

han shan

there is tranquility

to be found in the writings of han shan

his words bring images of cloud-shrouded mountains

of clear and cold streams

tumbling down those mountainsides

his writes of his home in a cave high up on the mountain

of the difficulty in getting there

of visitors who occasionally seek him out for his wisdom

of the tea he brews and serves to them

of his quiet   contemplative life

of the world he left behind   of the misdeeds he sees

when he comes off the mountain

of the inner peace which is within all of us   which is there for the asking

but all i see is loneliness

Wasn't it a self-imposed exile? I was under the impression that Han Shan chose his solitude, or maybe it was the solitude that chose him? Loneliness, hmm? That's an interesting perspective.

I was wondering why I couldn't comment, then realised I wasn't signed in - Is it age or just life but I forgot that I remembered who he/she was - I like the peace and quiet - I crave a minimalist tranquility - I like reading Rumi -

"If I hold you in my heart, you'll wither; Become a thorn if I hold you in my eyes. No, I'll make a place for you within my soul instead, So you'll be my love in lives beyond this life"

There can be a fine line between loneliness and peace, it can become a struggle, seems like you know.
