Menace

And so it begins
The pall descends
Roiling dark
Bilious ominous

Enveloping all
In acrid flavour
Putrid noxious
Death dealing

In its passing
A rising glow
Fresh and vibrant
Life triumphant

I like this, Joe. It reminds me of how a storm will suddenly roll over the mountains, and then quickly drift away.

I like the immediacy, the short lines, the weighted freighted words. And I'm grateful for the light that comes in at the end.

If you had it in mind to make the poem a bit longer, either to clarify the nature of the menace, or to make the transition to light and life less sudden, this reader wouldn't be ungrateful.

As it stands, it is a poem that gets our attention, and wins our unbegrudging favour!
