As some of you may know, Captain Tom Moore has raised circa £12 million pounds for NHS charities by walking 100 circuits of his garden to mark his 100th birthday. He became a 'centurion' today and this is my birthday gift to him.

The Ballad of Captain Tom

Health Control to Captain Tom,
Health Control to Captain Tom,
You have marched with great aplomb,
Each step made a huge donation
To lifting the Spirit of our Nation.

Captain Tom to Health Control,
Captain Tom to Health Control,
I was only out for a stroll,
Doing my bit for the Cause,
Not expecting so much applause.

Health Control to Captain Tom,
Health Control to Captain Tom,
Time to put your medals on,
And our Badge of White and Blue,
For tonight we will clap for you.

"Here am I walking in my garden
A hundred times around:
Planet Earth is sick
And it needs to get well quick."

Chris, hello!

I cherish the ballad's nod to an illustrious poetic ancestor!

peace and light
Tommo
