my affair with the sun
somewhere outside of taos the sky very blue
the earth very red the warmth of the place
and day enters my body the chill that is me
is thawed i became me again we enter
the georgia o'keefe museum there is nothing
in the museum not her paintings not her
philosophy that touches me i leave the
others find a place in the sun face that hot
new mexican sun as an equal though i am
not equal i am bold am honest have a dialog
with her explain and listen like a lover with
patience with secrets with truths with skill
with resolution i take her warmth she gives
me her warmth i give her myself save nothing
