I wrote this almost 14 yrs ago. I found it this morning and thought I'd post it as I'm still wide awake all night long. Now I'm staying up with my new 6 wks old granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Carter. A very good way to pass the time.
A Mermaid In A Starry Sky
In the middle of her mind,
In the middle of the night,
She escaped from her body
Leaving all adversity behind.
She floated amongst the angels.
She felt the wind of their wings
Humming a gentle love song
That only nightengales sing.
She tumbled along a star path
Catching a comet's tail
Riding it to a dreamscape
Along a meteor trail.
Falling into a time warp,
Streaking across the sky,
Diving like a swan into
The dipper's eye.
She swam in the milky way,
A mermaid in a starry sky
Twirling, swirling, cream and honey
Without wings she could fly.
On and on she went
Without a single care
Magical, whimsical dreamland
In peaceful slumber, she's there.
