My concern by Ann Wood

My concern

Many mornings I wake up alone in silence ..
Many evenings I meet the darkness alone,
how empty my life is like that
and how cold the loneliness is ..

But am I not too used to it,
to be my most faithful companion,
the non-preferred-
but the only one
with whom I can share everything ..

And tonight staring into the darkness
loneliness sits opposite me again,
with his expressionless face,
and the dead, glassy heart ...
Her eyes have long been colorless
but ominously in the dark they shine.
She is quiet, she does not argue, she is not angry,
and always agrees with me.
"-Good night, loneliness from me,
we will meet again in the morning. "

A powerful study of the intimacy of loneliness. A familiar environment. Well written Ann.
