Nature’s Revenge

Crabgrass invades nasty stuff
In frustrated rage I’ve had enough
Forget the potions deemed to kill
I’m ripping it out with a frenzied will

Done now... my work complete
A huge bare patch lays at my feet
Off to the store for seed and soil
Repair the patch with honest toil

Mix grass seed with dirt in a barrow
Cover the patch and water tomorrow
And every day and for days to come
As the green chutes rise to meet the sun

Now day thirty and my lawn is whole
A smooth expanse of emerald green
A hillock rises overnight it seems
Now to battle with a voracious mole
