The Road

Wheel rutted undulating

Tracing the route of iron

Shod wagons and worn

Boots

Verges verdant in primrose

Queen Ann’s Lace and

Milkweed green tufts of

Errant grass

The farmstead in worn white

Clapboards bright curtains

Of calico print blowing

In a summer wind

Shade from a Jesuit pear

Gnarled and twisted in

Proof of a life of steadfast

Strength

So goes the country road

In promise of tomorrow’s

Day and proof of

Yesterday’s

Top-notch writing, Joe, a joy to read. Every word contributory, diction sinewy and vigorous. Bravo and more!
