Autumn Dresses For All Hallows’ Eve
Winds of Autumn rash and free
Send leaves ascatter as they rush
To a privet hedge lying in the lee
It’s naked boughs now dressed in lush
And borrowed hues of crimson gold and rusty
Brown of errant castoffs from lofty brush
And taller brethren too involved in windy
Tussles to worry the loss of minor tress
Costuming the privet in hurly burly
Reminiscent of mummers in patchwork dress
Fit for parading on All Hallows’ Eve
