Daydreams brought on by thoughts of age and change and acceptance

Heart’s Desire

Yesterday a TIA brought

Vertigo and sustained fatigue

Kept me in my hearth side chair

A warming fire my consolation

It’s depthless embers mesmerizing

it’s nascent flames hypnotic

My mind in thrall with thoughts

Of limits placed by health and years

Brought about through happenstance

And time both of which are creatures

Whose unconquerable kingdoms

I can but mold to my heart’s desire

Despite the fact that the hearthside chair is, in the poem, a confinement, it strikes this reader as not a bad place to be (especially with the hearth-fire burning!).

And with your poem, you provide a kind of hearth for the reader, at which we gladly join you.

I enjoyed this poem, even though happenstance and time ignore my heart's desires.
