Weather’s Quiet Splendour

The rain in slanting sheets has

Teased some flakes as it falls

This morning having begun

It’s run in the wee hours unseen

Unheard it washes the street

Of errant leaves and dust

Quiet unaudiencesd  pedestrian

Morphing to sleet at breakfast

Snow for lunch drifting toward

Evening mounds in irregular splendour

Dazzling in diamond clusters

Under lampposts seen through frosted

Windowpanes lit by bright fires

In warming hearths
