I am different, please do not remind me.

In the classroom you sit.
Thinking they should only know.
They do not know, nor will they never.
You are the only one in this clasroom.
They do not know, but acting so.

Staring at you with disgrase.
Wondering what you are doing here.
You do not fit in.
You are different.

Never a friend,
always alone.
Alone in the darkness,
alone with the pain.

This is a very sensitive text. I'm not certain if it is written from personal experience of by your observations of another but I can still relate through the memory it conjures of my childhood and also, in some ways, of my daughter who has been diagnosed with mild form of aspergers.

I have learned to love myself and now have many who I could say appreciate me. I am also fortunate that my daughter's circumstance is understood unlike in days gone by when she and many like her would have been isolated because of being "different."

Thank You for sharing your writing. You have a voice, and you are not alone.
