The Journey

We saw it rising in the western sky

Its glorious light our question why

This star was new not seen before

Yet it was promised in arcane lore

We found the text on a scrap of vellum

The star announced a new king had come

The scribe had promised long ago

Beyond mountains deserts lakes and slough

We had studied countless years

We three from different knowledge spheres

All of us knowing in our brotherhood

There was one God we understood

This God would bring the world to right

Through an anointed king of boundless might

He would be born neath a star of light

That none before had shone as bright

We set ourselves to journey far

To find this babe beneath the star

Alight in otherworldly splendour

we Balthazar Caspar Melchior

A nice poem for the Epiphany (or Theophany, as it is sometimes called). I enjoyed it greatly!
