Today I'm alone at home; a rare treat.

Alone

The house
silent waiting
Breathing slow and easy
Creaking as the day's warmth pervades
Sounds heard meant for no one
A distant car a robin's trill
Sun though drawn curtains
highlights dust in places never seen before
The house reveals herself for what she is
Silent waiting warming caring

This is so reassuring somehow, that feeling of alone time coupled with the familiar, the final line says it all.

This poem has a pleasant warming effect, Joe. All at Coo & Co like the format and the imagery. And 'a robin's trill' is especially appealing :>)

That darned sunlight, always pointing out the dust! I enjoyed this poem, too, Joe. It reminds me of some French poetry of the mid-20th century ... can't place the poet's name at the moment.

I also like the rhythmical balance and the audible specificity of "A distant car a robin's trill."

As one who currently is in just such a place, I appreciate the calm and soothing qualities of this poem.
