Did this today and finally assigned the mandoline to the dumpster.

Culinary Guillotine

Sliced potatoes fried in butter

chopped onion added to the mix

cast iron pan nothing better

sizzling hot just the fix

a bit of zest from a garlic clove

salt and pepper mis en place

slice the onion very small

potatoes peeled of skin no trace

the mandoline will cut them fine

a few quick strokes is all I need

careless stroke not quite in time

my thumb sliced in quest of speed

Ooooh, poor sliced thumb! Sounds as if it would have been good before all the bloodshed! You should see my scars from opening oysters (you would think I would have learnt the 1st time, but oh no, my love of shellfish surpasses common sense!) Happy New Year and speedy recovery to said thumb!

Hold back the onions, Jo, matee
I'll worm up my concord
Set a place I, & I'll be over toot sweet

Ouchy! Members of Coo & Co wish All Good Things for your injured thumb, Joe :>/

We hadn't heard of this sort of mandolin before; we know of the instrument, though. The first two stanzas here are excellent, making us feel distinctly peckish. We also appreciate the rhymes and slant rhymes, and the rhythm too :>)
