Evensong
Long white hair bedraggled evidence
Of impressed monasticism as is my
Indolent chair bound attendance
This tense lockdown of despondency
A pleasant measure of release
I've found in mind travel uncontrolled
My memory flashes as it pleases
Past events I’ve been embroiled
Unannounced in random order
Flashes from a boyhood realm
Or with some long gone exotic lover
Past sea voyages at which I helm
Fancy or fact I can no longer tell
For the line between is blurred by age
It matters not why should one dwell
Chimera or not there is no umbrage
Without connect these flights illogic
Lasting seconds but with fallout long
I joyfully harvest these biopics
To spice my day’s bland evensong
