Sciatic Incubus

 

 

Sciatica is a numbing thing

It steals resolve and action

A background demon threatening

Constant pain in the nether region

 

Stretches will exorcize this incubus 

Who devils my aching day and nights

Acetaminophen is another plus

Together we’ll defeat the beast by rights

 

Stretched now on my voluntary rack

Imbued with nighttime Tylenol

Now armoured well against attack

I sleep in reverie’s madrigal

Oh, sciatica is the worst! A few years back, I had it for three or four days. I am so blessed that it went away quickly! I know folks who were immobilised for a whole month. But you've turned the "lemon" of sciatica into the "lemonade" of poetry! And how often does any poem rhyme "Tylenol" and "madrigal"?
