The city is host to large numbers of street people and dogs. They move and mingle in packs each protecting the other. Urban hybrids. They live primaly surviving invisibly along side and among the city sophisticates.
Buenos Aires Urban Nocturne
Dank mid winter mist
Cloying wet wool weather
Sundown Avenida Callao
Dark sodden sidewalk
yellow shop windows
Diners warm and uncaring
Of the whithered street
People and their packs
Populating the corners
And underhangs preparing
For another night in
The rain
His pack three
Urban mongrels
Big matted wary
City dogs resolute
Fiercely loyal
Vigilant professional
His possessions
In the shopping cart
Removed with long
Experience to build
The night shelter
Survival technology
Refined over years
Urbanized climatized
The homeward walkers
Consider them invisible
Their existence their world
A forth dimension
They are incapable
Of seeing
Settled dry within the undercroft
he cocoons bivouacked
the pack on station guarding
The alpha male sleeping
A perimeter of feral sentinels
Assures his rest
Undisturbed
