Mother
Setting aside the gender debate
On this most special days of days
Only a mother can be a mum
In her most maternal of ways
Dads are cool I have no doubt
Though I never really had the pleasure
But all that was and meant to be
My mother was both in equal measure
If goldfish need bikes like women need men
In this genderless minefield we created
I still turn to mum because she knows best
And that can't ever be debated
So give a thought to all those mums
Let them know how much we care
And let the dads know they're loved too
All too soon they may no longer be there.
