I write as it flows and not with much thought of the subject. Would it be better to write with some fixed idea of an end product or just continue as I am? What is right?

The right to write right...

Some may say I'm a dreamer
Others can call me the scribe of truth
But in some humble way I am neither
And if asked, I will provide the proof

My ink flows onto the page with glee
Dancing with words formed in its wake
Of Summer days and rainbows
Or other dreams my thoughts should make

Whether in rhyme or poetic rule
I want the world to see my mind meander
To please myself or those who read my script
I become a lexicographic commander

But perhaps in truth the dreams are unreal
I see the clouds before each silver lining
Yet still I write of what takes my mood
With this talent to be so undefining!

somehow, we have to build the paradises and not just imagine us there happier!

with a fixed idea, with a final goal, you may be disappointed when arriving at your destination
between the destination and the road, one has to choose or maybe not, to take both

I find it is never truly fixed vision but rather a general direction and a wispy goal like making out an object in the distance through the fog; only going forward toward it does it make itself clear, the journey being the joy and the complete work (if it ever is in a complete state) a somewhat added bonus. Something like that… I must away to bring these thoughts and notions to a better cohesion.
