Milk of Human Kindness

In the current national crisis
I am left to my own devices
I have developed a yearning for returning
To a more civilised way
So
Yesterday
I felt the need to take tea
With a pot and jug and sugar bowl
From my kitchen diner
Using the finest china.

Unfortunately I had only one china cup
The sole survivor of my clumsy washing up
Not a saucer in sight...

But later last night
I remembered my nextdoor neighbour
Puts one out for a neighbourhood cat
And as it was dark
I went and pinched that.
Also
Free milk...
