Birthday

She had finally gone to bed

A long day almost over

Wandering in focused willinilly

A joyful chore but with setbacks

First the list of necessaries

Then to find them in this

Lock downed retail desert

Darkened stores empty shelves

At last the items all acquired

Bonbons pastries all the things

She loves to hate but craves

Balloons and ribbons festoon

Her  birthday basket set upon

The breakfast table this COVID dawn

her sleepy eyes will feast and fawn

these unexpected treats anon

Ooh, 'willinilli', what a wonderful word, Joe. All at Coo & Co enjoyed this poem, Joe, pausing slightly in the third stanza for bonbons and pastries. We also appreciated the rhythms and rhymings :>)
