Morning meditations

Coffee in hand bare feet wet I walk in awe through

A shadowed morning pierced by flaming rays

Of a fresh delightful new risen sun

The lawn Emerald green with diamond dew

razor edged by mulch topped gardens

Still pungent from yesterday’s application

Cool and bracing this morning

Of spring sun damp with last night’s

Condensation glazing the fresh planted impatiens

Jeweling the hardy clematis its silver buds

Bright sceptres promising soon lavender crowns

I cannot but think of this day’s other treasures

As yet undiscovered

I could have been walking through my garden, I could smell the air and that slight freshness - my clematis has been a tad slow this year as it was so dry here - I enjoyed

What I love about this poem is your use of visual imagery, one after another--strung together as if beads in a rosary. The whole poem breathes, with so many fine lines, especially imagistic ones like: "A shadowed morning pierced by flaming rays."

Well written, Joe. :)

I cherish the impatiens, the clematis, and the pungent mulch! Am glad that the morning provided you with palpable joy.
