The Ordinariness of Love

My dear love
let the ordinariness of our love
not surprise you

Let the seamless quality of it
not surprise you

We can't say
where i begin and end
or you for that matter

the way our atoms collide
it seems more like a glide
its like living in a long embrace
yes, a see saw of embrace
at times loose and light
and sometimes held tight

There is a quiet hum to us
So welcoming of the other
and of us
Its the rhythm of familiarity and exceptional
the new changing to the old
and the old always giving way to the new
Just like the waves

a continuous process of more.

our love is so ordinary
with all its quiet comforts
and easy ways
safe keeping us.

I like the gentle spirit of your poem. I'm sure the person you wrote if for loves and values it. In an interesting synchronicity, my first villanelle was titled "Ordinary Love" and it explores the idea that ordinary love is actually far from ordinary. Mature love can be deeper and wider than the youthful flames of passion. In any case, I do like your poem.
