My occupation in one that actively studies nature and the ecological environment. I keep waiting for the dream to end but then tomorrow arrives and I embark on my next journey of discovery.

Another days work...

The setting sun is beginning to fade

Birds are singing their evening song

A myriad of blooms with heads all bowed

No more hustle of our wildlife throng

In the distance a skylark is singing

A speck high in the evening sky

It's silhouette against a scarlet dusk

As the day waves a last goodbye

Sitting here alone with my thoughts

I marvel at the joys that nature brings

And as that lark bids the day farewell

Inside it's my heart that sings

Fortunate am I to have such pleasures

And I am blessed within this role I serve

An observer of nature and its glories

Tomorrow's the future I hold in reserve

Beautiful.

The last stanza sums the overall mood nicely. To feel fortunate and blessed amid nature and to write poetry that resonates with same sentiments . . . what more does one need?

My job found me most often alone in a rural, wooded, pastured setting. I appreciate this. I felt fortunate.
