English version of Solo amaste que te amara
Translated by Robert Zen
2021

You only loved that I loved you

I was the shoulder where you wanted to cry,
I was the book you expected to read,
I was the answer to the past of your need
And the words to let by.

I was the sun you never saw rise up
The agony sleeping on your violin
I was the hug that lifted you up
Leaving your past behind therein.

You just loved that I loved you
Leaving my heart behind
Expecting to be loved by you
But now you are not here to find
You left to the East.
From your mind, I was released
You just loved that I loved you
And I just have to forget you.

I was the mantra that gave you peace
I was the light shining but not fleeting ease,
I was the road when you could forget
And you left this loneliness without regret
Leaving with no threat.

Slam the door
And leave your visage
To remember your cold image
That leaves your emptiness to ignore.
You only loved that I loved you
Without caring as your indifferences could kill me
But this heart knows anew
When we love, no one is first to be
