I am living in a monastery presently... just me and six priests who are also resident monks

Afternoon Contemplation

The western rose window burns in afternoon
spilling a firery palette on the worn mottled tiles of the choir floor

frenzieing them in calder bright and Dali style moving with the sun

this savage marching incandescence unwitnessed save me and God

my  thoughts as riotous as the clamouring floor

Yet in time with infinite ease peace and dusk requite in patient pause

to fade these tumultuous abstracts to black and I return to the whole of meditative nothing

save the gentle guardian sanctuary flame

and love

A perfect place for peace and meditative contemplation. Methinks it nourishes the mind and the soul! :)

Well done, Joe. You've portrayed the scene very nicely.

Sounds a nice idyllic place to live,
With time to reflect on a poets dream.
With a poetic thought dripping through
every seam. With poetry written as good as yours,
I've only one thing to ask, When can I move in?

The monastery clearly is good for the poet. This was a joy to read.
