mining helmets and lightning bugs

Jovial little lightning-bug that doesn’t just move -
but sways like a ribbon dancing in humid air
May your pure, chartreuse luminance never waver
- but never allow them to use you for their lantern

Your inner light is so valuable, so rare
Only adulthood could taint such a gentle thing
Kindness is often burned, mined like coal
People will imitate you, lure you in with their false helmet’s glow
